Welcome to Highfield Primary School
Arrangements for starting school...
Wednesday 4th September – Friday 6th September
Children attend school for mornings only from 8:30 am until 11:30 am
Monday 9th September and Tuesday 10th September.
Children attend for the morning and stay for lunch and should be collected from school at 1:15 pm.
Wednesday 11th September
Children start school full time - 8.30am - 3.00pm
In September children enter school via the infant door from the playground and are to be collected from
classroom doors which open onto the school field. Parents need to walk around the school building to access the
back of the classrooms.

School Uniform

The following items can be purchased from John MCHugh in Stretford:
- HPS School sweatshirt/cardigan
- Burgundy PE Shorts (PE Kit is not required until after October half term)
- Burgundy drawstring PE Bag
All other items can be purchased from any school wear provider
Please note: parents who complete the pink Pupil Premium form will receive a free school book bag or book for your child in September.

What is my classroom like?

Below you will find some key information about school-life at Highfield.
A Typical Day in Class 1
8:35-9:00 - Children arrive at school and complete basic skills tasts such as handwriting, maths activities or jigsaws. The register is taken
9:00- 10:00 - Children learning Phonics through the Read Write Inc scheme. They will also take part in Physical Literacy activities to promote gross and fine motor development
10:00-10:15 - Handwriting
10:15-10:30 - Playtime
10.30 - 11.00 Maths teaching on the carpet using phsycial resources and whiteboards
11:00 - 12:00 - Children learn through play and take part in focused activities
12:00 - 13:00 - Lunchtime in the hall and playtime in the playground
13:00 - 13:30 - The register is taken again and children take part in English through our Talk 4 Writing scheme
13:30-14:00 - Children learn through play and take part in focused activities
14:00-14:30 - Foundation subject teaching (such as Art, History, Music etc) and exploring through play
14:30-14:45 - Playtime in the playground
14:45 - 15:00 Getting ready for home time and story time
15:00 - Children collected by grown-up
