Attendance
We are committed to maximising the achievements of all of our pupils. There is a clear link between good attendance and educational achievement. At Highfield we aim to promote regular attendance and good punctuality in order to ensure all of our pupils achieve their potential.
Parents/carers should notify the school before 9.00am on the first school day of his/her child’s absence from school.
Promoting Good Attendance
The school acknowledges that good attendance should be recognised and rewarded. There are incentives used to promote and recognise good attendance.
Please see the 'Celebrating Good Attendance' tab for more details.

School Opening Times
Main School Nursery
8.35 am - 3.00 pm Morning Session: 8.30am -11.30am
Afternoon Session: 12.15pm - 3.15pm
Start of the school day
We open the school gates to the playground at 8.30am and the doors to school at 8.35am. This staggers children coming into school, allowing for a calm start and the opportunity to settle down to Basic Skills work, which continues until 9.00am.
It is important that your child is on time for school. Late arrival in the classroom can be upsetting for the child and can disrupt the education of other children in the class.
End of the school day
Children in classes 1 and 2 are dismissed from the back doors of the classrooms on the field side of school.
Children in classes 3-10 are dismissed into the playground.
Children are taught, and regularly reminded to wait with their teacher until they can see their parent/carer and let their teacher know who has collected them.
If you are going to be delayed you should ring the school office so a message can be sent to your child and their class teacher that you are on your way. If a different adult is collecting your child you must inform school as we will never send a child home with an adult unknown to us or not expected to be picking them up.
