At Highfield we aim to find ways to enrich our school curriculum through clubs, event days and other opportunities.
500 Words Competition 2022
Well done to all of the children who submitted a story for the 500 words competition! All of the stories were fantastic!
A very big well done to Hannah; her story has been commended and has made it through to the final round of the competition!
Creative Writing Workshop
All children in KS2 took part in a creative writing workshop, led by a lecturer from Manchester Metropolitan University.
The children all thoroughly enjoyed the event, creating fantastic setting descriptions and thinking carefully about their vocabulary choices.
Poetry Workshop
UKS2 took part in a virtual poetry workshop with author Joseph Coelho.
The children were thoroughly entertained and learnt lots of different poetic techniques. They particularly enjoyed writing abecadarius poems!
National Writing Day
To celebrate National Writing Day children too part in a 24/7 writing challenge.
The challenge had 3 simple rules:
1) It had to be a story 24 words or less.
2) The story had to start with the words 'One day'.
3) The story had to be written in 7 minutes.
