PSHE Beyond School
We love when children and families are so engaged with a subject that they want to pursue opportunities to keep learning beyond the school day. This page includes activities that can be found online and in the community to support further learning and experiences.
The main aims of PSHE are to prepare young people for the next stage of their lives - academically, socially and emotionally.
To support PSHE learning at home please seek opportunities to talk about, understand and experience cooking, navigating public transport, how to budget, relationships, and self-care for them and their home.
Being creative
Creativity is an essential part of wellbeing. We need to give children the space to be creative and join in the process with them. Find times to sing and dance with children, this can be a joyful experience. Give children the opportunity to experiment with a wide range of materials and mark-making tools. Creativity should be about enjoying the activity and not about having a finished product.

Maintaining a routine
A steady routine can help provide stability in a child’s life, which can give children and young people a sense of security and help reduce stress. Here are some tips:
- plan regular weekly activities, such as seeing friends and relatives or taking part in a club or hobby
- have regular mealtimes
- set and stick to bed times, particularly for younger children, as sleep is important for children’s mental and physical wellbeing (NHS, 2020)
- a good night's sleep is really important. Establish a night time routine for , such as reading a story before bed
- work with older children to create a routine that works for them – including homework, seeing friends, extra-curricular activities and time offline.

Mindful breathing and colouring
Mindful breathing can be a good place to start regulating and recognising breathing patterns. Mindful breathing and colour activities can help slow down the pace of the day and enjoy some reflection time.
